TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman men's basketball team earned their first win of the season defeating Illinois Tech with a final score of 72-54. This improves the team to 1-2 overall this season.
Daniel Savovic was the standout for Rose-Hulman leading the team with 17 points shooting 6-9 from the field and 2-4 from beyond the arc.
Miles McGowen also made an impact one rebound shy of a double-double with 16 points and a team-high nine rebounds.
Rose-Hulman had the lead after the first half in a close game after a made layup by McGowen in the final minute made the score 30-27. The Fightin' Engineers came out of the locker room determined and would not give up the lead for the remainder of the game.
After holding a 35-31 lead, Rose-Hulman went on a 9-0 run to take control of the contest. A made layup by
James Stasey gave Rose-Hulman their largest lead of the game with the score at 72-51 with just 33 seconds remaining.
The Fightin' Engineers finished the contest shooting 40% from the field and 28% on three-pointers. The team won the battle on the boards out-rebounding the Scarlet Hawks 41-29.
Rose-Hulman will return to action hosting Wabash College on Monday, November 25 at 7 PM.
