BLUFFTON, Ohio -- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers men's basketball team remains unbeaten in the conference with a win over Bluffton on Saturday with a final score of 65-49. This improves the team to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the HCAC.
The dynamic duo of
Joey Schmitz and
Daniel Savovic were the difference makers for Rose-Hulman. Schmitz led the team with a career-high 19 points and Savovic tied his career-high set earlier this season against IIT with 17 points in the big win. Both players had similar stat lines shooting 5-12 from beyond the arc individually.
Miles McGowen dominated the glass leading the team with 15 rebounds in the game.
Cole Pride was also a standout finishing with nine rebounds and 10 points.
Bluffton jumped to a five-point lead in the first two minutes to set the tone early. The Beavers held the lead for a majority of the first half before a made three-pointer by Savovic put the Fightin' Engineers in front 28-27 before the halftime break.
Rose-Hulman ran away with the game in the second half holding onto the lead for the remainder of the contest. The team was ahead 59-49 with 3:01 remaining in the game. Rose sealed the win with back-to-back three-pointers by
Kobe Stoudemire and Savovic in the final two minutes to give the team their largest lead of the night.
Rose-Hulman will return to action on the road as they face Millikin on Wednesday, December 11 at 7 PM CT.
