CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's basketball team fell to Mount St. Joseph 62-55 on Saturday afternoon.
The game started out back and forth with neither team able to lead by more than one possession until Rose-Hulman went on an 8-0 run to stretch the lead to 9. Mount St. Joseph would answer quickly with an 8-2 run in the final 1:45 of the half to get it back to 3 at the break.
The third quarter was all Mount St. Joseph as they outscored Rose-Hulman 19-9, including a 10-2 run in the final 4:45 of the quarter.
The Fightin' Engineers were able to hang in the game for the entire fourth quarter, and they tied the game at 55 on an
Ashley Black three with 48 seconds to go to cap a 7-1 run. However, Rose-Hulman would turn it over four times in the final minute, and Mount St. Joseph would hold on for a 62-55 win.
Jamie Baum led the Fightin' Engineers with 20 points for the third consecutive game. Black also finished in double figures with 10.
Manuella Shomba added 13 rebounds to go along with her 5 points in the loss.
The Fightin' Engineers drop to 11-12 on the season and 8-8 in HCAC play. They will return to the court on Tuesday, February 13 as they host the Earlham Quakers in their final home game of the season.
