CARMEL, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's basketball earned two all-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference honors as released by the league office on Wednesday afternoon. Freshman
Grace Roland earned Newcomer of the Year honors for the Fightin' Engineers, and
Jamie Baum earned 1st-team all-HCAC honors. Roland was also named to the All-Newcomer team and earned Honorable Mention all-HCAC recognition.
Roland finished the year with 11.8 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game, and she led the team in field goal percentage at 46.2% and 3-point percentage at 36.4%. She also finished the year ranked 5th in rebounding and 9th in points in the HCAC.
The freshman mechanical engineering major from Westmont, Illinois, finished the season with the 7th-highest free throw percentage (82.0%) and 13th-most defensive rebounds (146) in a single-season in program history.
Baum averaged 13.6 points per game, 5.3 rebounds per game, and 2.6 rebounds per game en route to her first-team all-HCAC selection. She led the HCAC in minutes played per game at 34.1, and she finished top-5 in the HCAC in points and blocks and top-10 in assists.
The junior civil engineering major finished the year ranked #29 in NCAA Division III in free throw percentage at 85.3%. In her career, Baum currently ranks 5th in minutes per game (34.2), 10th in 3-point field goals (72), 10th in blocks (57), 14th in field goals attempted (641), and 14th in 3-point field goals attempted (207).
This is the second all-HCAC honor for the Los Altos, California native after being named 2nd-team all-HCAC in her freshman season.
The Fightin' Engineers ended their season at 12-14 overall after their first-round exit in the HCAC Tournament. Their 12 wins ties their most wins in a season since 2018-19.
