TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's basketball team rolled to an 80-43 victory over Defiance on Senior Day. The 37-point victory is the largest victory for the women's basketball team since their 39-point victory over Mount St. Joseph in 2019.
Prior to the game, the Fightin' Engineers honored their 2024 senior class including
Ashley Black,
Peyton Miller,Â
Mira Randolph,
Manuella Shomba, and
Neha Vinesh.
Peyton Miller opened Senior Night with her first basket of the season after missing her senior year with an ACL injury.
Defiance started off with a 6-5 lead, but just like the first meeting, the Fightin' Engineers responded with a big 26-3 run to stretch the lead to 31-9.
Rose-Hulman would go into the locker room with a 40-16 lead, and they would continue to roll to the 37-point win.
Jamie Baum had a career-day with 31 points and 9 rebounds. Her 31 points is a career-high and the 7th-most points scored in a single game in school history. Baum also outscored the Yellow Jackets by herself through three quarters of action as she had 27 points and Defiance had 23.
Manuella Shomba was the lone other Rose-Hulman player in double figures as she recorded a double-double with 10 points and a career-high 15 rebounds.
Grace Roland added 7 points and 8 rebounds, and
Emilia Diaz tallied 7 points and tied her career-high with 3 assists in the win
12 of the 13 players for the Fightin' Engineers scored a point in the game.
Ashley Black added 5 points and a career-high 8 rebounds, and
Neha Vinesh scored 2 points and grabbed a career-high 2 rebounds on their Senior Day.
Rose-Hulman will return to action on Wednesday, February 7 as they travel to Hanover to take on the Panthers.
