TERRE HAUTE, Ind.-- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers hosted Defiance College on Saturday, and the team came away with a win defeating the Yellow Jackets with a final score of 79-49. This improves the team to 9-12 overall and 7-7 in the HCAC.

Miles McGowen had an incredible performance leading the team with 28 points and 11 rebounds for his eighth double-double of the season. Other double figure scorers included Kobe Stoudemire with 11 points and Bradley Harden with 10 points.

The Fightin' Engineers were able to build a substantial lead in the first half. A made layup by McGowen would stretch their advantage to 10 points with the score at 28-18 and 5:16 remaining in the half. The Yellow Jackets battled back to decrease the deficit to 37-30 at the halftime break.

Rose-Hulman put together a 22-3 run in the second half to take control of the momentum, and McGowen would complete a 10-0 run by himself to stretch the lead from 17 to 27 with just six minutes remaining. The Fightin' Engineers would hold on to snap their three-game losing streak with the 30-point victory.

This win puts the team two games ahead of Mount St. Joseph University, after their loss to Earlham College, with just four games to play.

The Fightin' Engineers will return to the hardwood  on Wednesday, 2/7 at 7:30 PM as they host Hanover College.
