TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology baseball team dropped their Sunday contest with Anderson by a score of 9-4 in the rubber-game of the three-game series.
The Fightin' Engineers jumped onto the board early with four consecutive two-out hits. After singles by
Colter Couillard-Rodak and
Connor O'Connell,
Dalton Busboom ripped a single down the third base line for the first run of the game.Â
Josh Erpenbeck then added a two-run double to put the Fightin' Engineers on top 3-0.
Anderson would take the lead with the next four runs of the game, but Rose-Hulman tied the game back up in the seventh on a pair of two out hits by
Peter Rogers and Couillard-Rodak.
The Ravens offense came alive in the eighth inning with five runs to hold on for the 9-4 victory.
Brady Strawmyer pitched well on the mound for Rose-Hulman, going a career-high 7.0 innings and allowig just four hits and four runs with three strikeouts.
Schuyler Wilcox added a shutout inning out of the bullpen.
Rogers, Couillard-Rodak, and Erpenbeck led the team with 2 hits each. Erpenbeck also added a pair of RBIs in the loss.
The Fightin' Engineers fall to 18-14 on the season and 9-6 in the HCAC. They will return to action next weekend as they travel to Defiance for a three-game series on April 27 and April 28.
