TERRE HAUTE, Ind.-- The Rose-Hulman softball team welcomed Spalding University to campus for a doubleheader on Thursday. The team dropped both games to the Golden Eagles with final scores of 9-1 and 5-3.
In the first game of the day, Spalding was able to get on the board in the first inning to take the early lead. Rose-Hulman tied the game in the bottom of the fourth on a double by

The Golden Eagles started to gain some momentum at the plate scoring two runs to take the lead in the fifth. Spalding was able to run away with the win after putting up six more runs in the sixth inning to secure the win.
Kayla Schnippel suffered the loss in the circle pitching 4.2 innings with one strikeout.
Rose-Hulman looked to bounce back in the second game of the day. Spalding scored first in the top of the first to take a 2-0 lead.

Jadyn Winkler to cut the deficit to 2-1. Rose-Hulman would tie the game after a fielders choice brought in
Kayla Schnippel for the game-tying score. The Fightin' Engineers would then jump ahead after a sacrifice fly by
Jessica Newsom scored Ezzell to put them ahead 3-2.
Spalding quickly answered with a home run in the top of the third to tie the game back up at 3-3. The Golden Eagles would regain the lead on a single in the fourth inning that scored two runs to make the score 5-3. Spalding held off the Fightin' Engineers to complete the sweep.
Worstell was credited the loss in game two pitching 3.2 innings with two strikeouts.
This drops Rose-Hulman to 21-17 overall on the year. The Fightin' Engineers will host #25 Transylvania University on Saturday, May 4th at 1 PM and 3 PM for Senior Day in their final doubleheader of the regular season.
