TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers men's soccer team hosted Wilmington College for their home opener on Sunday afternoon. The match ended in a draw with a final score of 1-1.

Both teams showed their strength defensively with the match still scoreless in the final minutes of the first half. Wilmington's Jose Ruiz was able to line up a shot outside the box that sailed behind the Rose-Hulman defense and connected with the net in the 45th minute to give the Quakers a one-goal advantage heading into halftime.

The Fightin' Engineers remained resilient out-shooting the Quakers 10-6 in the second half. Eli Miller scored the equalizer for Rose-Hulman on an impressive shot that snuck behind the Wilmington keeper in the 68th minute. Both teams continued to play hard, but neither were able to jump in front as time expired ending the match in a 1-1 draw.

Miller, Chase Kedzior, and Julius Salinas led Rose-Hulman with three shots in the match. John Biederstedt represented the Fightin' Engineers in the goal with seven saves on the day.

The Fightin' Engineers will hit the road to take on Wabash College on Wednesday, September 4 at 5 PM.
