GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer team picked up their first win of the 2024 season on Tuesday evening with a 1-0 triumph over DePauw.
The Tigers controlled the action in the first half, outshooting Rose-Hulman 4-1 with
John Biederstedt coming up with one great save.
In the second half, the Fightin' Engineers started strong with a pair of shots by
Tyler Eldridge and
Gabe Kruer, but both shots were blocked by the Tiger defense in the 60th minute.
Then, in the 63rd minute, Rose-Hulman broke through as Eldridge slotted home his second goal of the season on an assist from
Julius Salinas.
Following the goal, it was all DePauw as they outshot Rose-Hulman 7-1 in the final 27 minutes of action, but the Fightin' Engineer backline was stout and came up with several blocks and another save from Biederstedt.
The goal by Eldridge is the tenth of his career, and the assist by Salinas is the ninth of his career. Biederstedt also picked up his first clean sheet of the season and 16th of his career.
Rose-Hulman will return to action on Saturday, September 14 as they travel to Millikin to take on the Big Blue at 3 PM CT with Head Coach
