TERRE HAUTE, Ind.-- The Rose-Hulman women's volleyball team hosted their in-state rivals DePauw University on Wednesday night. The Fightin' Engineers suffered a loss to the Tigers with a final score of 3-1. This drops the team to 5-8 overall this season.
Rose-Hulman started strong claiming the first set against the Tigers 25-22. DePauw answered with a decisive win in the second set 25-16.
The third set proved to be highly competitive with both teams trading the lead. After the Fightin' Engineers took the lead on a kill by
Keira Ohse to make the score 18-17, DePauw put together an 8-4 run to close out the set and claim the win. DePauw carried their momentum into the fourth set ending the match on a 4-0 run to defeat Rose-Hulman.Â
Jillian Gregg led the team recording a double-double with 14 kills and 11 digs. Ohse also reached double figures in kills with 10 on the night.
Hannah Bergfeld set her teammates up for success leading the team with 20 assists in the match.
Lily Ebright was the difference maker defensively with a team-high 30 digs.Â
Rose-Hulman will return to action this weekend traveling to compete in the Denison Tri-Match on Saturday, September 21. The Fightin' Engineers will face John Carroll at 2 PM and Denison at 4 PM.Â
