EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer team fell short in a 1-0 loss with Division I foe, Southern Indiana.
The Fightin' Engineers had the opening opportunity just 50 seconds into the game, but
Eli Miller's shot was saved off the line by the Screamin' Eagles defense.
Rose-Hulman would have three more chances in the first 25 minutes of action with
Julius Salinas and
Nick Phillips each registering shots on goal, but Southern Indiana was able to keep them off the board.
The Screamin' Eagles would find the back of the net first in the 38th minute on a counter attack for a 1-0 lead.
John Biederstedt came up clutch in goal for the Fightin' Engineers as he recorded a season-high 7 saves in the loss.
Rose-Hulman falls to 1-4-2 on the season after falling in their first matchup with a Division I opponent in 34 years since they fell to IUPUI (IU-Indianapolis) in 1990.
The Fightin' Engineers return to action on Saturday, September 28 as they trvel to Bluffton to take on the Beavers in the HCACÂ opener.
