TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's volleyball team split their two matches on Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 loss to Monmouth and a 3-0 victory over St. Mary's (IN).
In the first match of the day, the Fightin' Engineers saved four set points in the opening set before falling 28-26. They would win the second set 25-22 before dropping the final two to lose the match.
Amaya Harrell led the team with 13 kills and a .324 hitting percentage in the match.
Keira Ohse also added double digit kills with 11 and a .257 hitting percentage.
Julia Irmen led the team with 26 assists, and
Lily Ebright added 34 digs for 8.50 digs per set.
In the second match of the day, the Fightin' Engineers started out strong with a .429 hitting percentage in the opening set with 16 kills and just one error to win it 25-14. They would keep up the momentum in the next two sets and roll to a three-set victory.
Harrell led the team again with 15 kills and an astounding .542 hitting percentage. Irmen added 22 assists, and Ebright added 16 digs to lead the team.
Jillian Gregg added a pair of double doubles on the day with 15 assists and 16 digs in match one and 11 kills and 13 assists in match two.
The Fightin' Engineers return to action in Hulbert Arena on Saturday, October 5 as they host the Berea Mountaineers in their HCACÂ opener.
