Women's Volleyball Falls in Competitive Road Match Against Webster

ST. LOUIS, Mo.-- The Rose-Hulman Insitute of Technology women's volleyball team traveled to face Webster in midweek action on Wednesday. The team suffered a loss to the Gorlocks in a tight contest after five sets 16-25, 25-19, 25-18, 16-25, 12-15. This drops the Fightin' Engineers to 2-3 overall this season. 

After being tied 1-1 in the match, Rose-Hulman put together a strong third set with a 6-2 run capped off by a kill from Desiree Beverley to take a 2-1 lead. 

Webster built some momentum in the fourth set scoring the final four points to force the fifth set tiebreaker. The Gorlocks kept the momentum going late in the final set, ending the match on a 4-1 run.

Beverley was exceptional leading the team with 17 kills. Jillian Gregg also reached double figures with 14 kills in the match.

Hannah Bergfeld finished with a double-double recording 18 assists and 10 digs. Julia Irmen was also productive at the net leading the team in assists with 19.

Lily Ebright led the defense with another outstanding performance recording 34 digs in the match. 

Rose-Hulman will return to action hosting their first invitational of the year on Friday, September 6, and Saturday, September 7. The Fightin' Engineers begin the invitational taking on Olivet on Friday at 7 PM.
