HANOVER, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman men's basketball team hit the road Wednesday night to take on Hanover College. The Fightin' Engineers suffered their first conference loss of the season to the Panthers with a final score of 78-50. This drops Rose-Hulman to 10-5 overall and 7-1 in the HCAC.
Miles McGowen led the team with 14 points and nine rebounds in the contest. McGowen achieved a career milestone surpassing 1,000 career points as a member of the Rose-Hulman men's basketball team.
Cole Pride also reached double figures in scoring with 12 points on the night.
After being tied 4-4 to start the game, Hanover jumped ahead on a 7-0 run to take the lead with 13:44 left in the first half. The Panthers were able to build on their lead to stand ahead 38-28 at the halftime break.
Hanover continued to shine offensively in the second half extending their lead out of reach of the Fightin' Engineers. Rose-Hulman struggled to get back into the game and would ultimately suffer the loss to the Panthers.
Rose-Hulman now stands in a three-way tie for first place in the HCAC with Anderson and Franklin all at 7-1 in conference play this season.
The Fightin' Engineers will look to bounce back on Saturday, January 18 as they host Franklin College at 3 PM.
