LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology fell short to the Transylvania Pioneers on Saturday afternoon with a 70-65 loss to drop to 11-7 overall and 8-3 in the HCAC.
Kobe Stoudemire led the team with 18 points and six rebounds shooting three for seven from beyond the arc. Other double-figure scorers included
Joey Schmitz with 16 and
Miles McGowen with 10.
Rose-Hulman had a great start to the game jumping to a 6-0 lead in the first four minutes. After a tie game with a score of 23-23 with 4:58 remaining, Transylvania put together an 11-7 run to stand ahead 34-30 at the halftime break.
The Fightin' Engineers found themselves in a tight game down the stretch. A made layup by Stoudemire put the team down one with a score of 66-65 with just 1:39 remaining in the game.
Transylvania was able to hold off the Fightin' Engineers in the final minute and claim the victory.
Rose-Hulman will return to action traveling to face Franklin College on Wednesday, January 29, at 7:30 PM.
