CINCINNATI, Ohio. – Rose-Hulman was unable to take down the reigning HCAC Champions, as the Mt. St. Joseph Lions won by a score of 2-0.
Mt. St. Joseph recorded the first shot of the game, as Mary Anhofer's shot down the right side was saved by
Brooke Spurlock.
Sydnee Schuler attempted a 21st-minute shot on goal down the middle, with Megan Kallmeyer recording the save. The Lions would take advantage of their possession, as Kendal Fox scored the opening goal on an assist from Rachel Ginn.
Schuler would nearly tie the game three minutes later, but her second shot of the game was hauled in by Kallmeyer.
The Lions had a great opportunity to extend their lead in the 37
th minute, but Spurlock saved both of their shots from Payge Callahan and Bailey Dotson.
Mt. St. Joseph came out strong to start the second half, with Preslee Rugg scoring a 48th-minute goal on an assist from Anhofer.
Emma Johns added her second shot on goal in the 78
th minute, which would also be saved, securing the 2-0 win for Mt. St. Joseph.
The Fightin' Engineers will return to Terre Haute for their Greek Night game against Earlham. The match will be held on Wednesday, October 15, at 7 PM.
