BEREA, Ky. -- The Rose-Hulman volleyball team traveled to take on Berea in HCAC action on Saturday. The Fightin' Engineers picked up the sweep over the Mountaineers with set scores of 25-14, 25-21, and 25-22. This improves the team to 13-7 overall and 1-1 in the HCAC.
The win over Berea marks the 100th career victory for
Rachel Delsi in her eighth season as the head coach of the Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers volleyball program.
Emma Blanton led the team with a double-double, recording 12 kills and 12 digs.
Keira Ohse had an impressive performance with 11 kills, a .300 attack percentage, and three blocks in the match.
Julia Irmen continues to be a difference maker, leading the team with 37 assists.
Lily Ebright led the defense with 32 digs against the Mountaineers.
Rose-Hulman looked to take control early in the match. In the first set, the score stood tied at 4-4. The Fightin' Engineers put together an 11-1 run to build a commanding lead, 15-5. The team ran away with the match, defeating Berea 25-14.
The Fightin' Engineers continued to control the momentum for the remainder of the match. The team won the second set on a kill by Greta Carson with a score of 25-21.
In the final set, Rose-Hulman completed the sweep, holding off a late surge by Berea. Blanton recorded the final kill to win the set 25-22, handing Rose-Hulman their first conference victory of the season.
The women's volleyball team will continue their conference schedule, traveling to take on Mount St. Joseph on Saturday, October 18, at 1 PM.
