BEREA, Ohio -- The Rose-Hulman football team suffered a loss to the Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets with a final score of 52-20. This drops the team to 1-5 overall this season.
Alexander Marsteller led the team with 23 rushing attempts, totaling 89 yards and two rushing touchdowns.
Drew Dalton led the receivers with six catches for 51 yards.
Antonio Barnes was the standout on defense with 10 tackles. Both
Augustus Shryock and
William Fleck recorded one tackle for loss and one sack each in the contest.
The Yellow Jackets jumped to a 38-0 lead at the end of the first half. The team added two more scores in the third quarter to establish a commanding lead of 52-0.
The Fightin' Engineers got on the board in the fourth quarter, finishing a six-play, 52-yard drive with a 15-yard rushing touchdown by Marsteller.
The Rose-Hulman defense got in on the action after forcing a fumble that was recovered by
Tristan Stephens and returned 59 yards for a touchdown to make the score 52-14 with 10:38 left in the fourth quarter.
The Fightin' Engineers got the ball back on the following kickoff, after a muffed kickoff return for the Yellow Jackets resulted in a recovery by
Marshall Koch at the Baldwin Wallace eight-yard line. Rose-Hulman's final score came on a one-yard run by Marsteller to cap off a four-play, 8-yard drive.
Rose-Hulman will return home to continue their conference schedule, hosting Bluffton on Saturday, October 25, at 2 PM for their Tackle Childhood Cancer Game.
