Rose-Hulman Shuts Out Bluffton on Senior Day

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Fightin' Engineers matched up with the Bluffton Beavers in their Senior Day game. Rose-Hulman would thrive on both ends of the field, as they pulled away with a 3-0 victory in their final home game of the regular season.

Rose-Hulman quickly earned momentum in the match, as they were awarded a penalty kick in the fifth minute. Oliver Fila stepped up to take the PK, where he scored his second goal of the season to give RHIT the lead.

Weston Seybold would nearly add a 14th-minute goal on his Senior Day, where Zach Johnson saved his shot towards the right side of the goal.

Justin Burns hauled in his first save of the game in the 23rd minute on a high shot off a corner kick. He would add another save four minutes later, as he stopped Collin Scheid's penalty kick to keep Rose-Hulman in the lead.

Ryan Shapiro would score his team-high fourth goal on the season in the 38th, extending the lead to two at the half. Chase Kedzior assisted on the play, where he tied Fila for most assists on the team with four.

The Fightin' Engineers came out firing in the second half, as Peter Borger and Shapiro each recorded shots that were saved within the first 13 minutes.

In the 74th minute, Cameron Hannah received a pass from Eli Miller, where dribbled past the Bluffton defense and fired a shot towards the left side of the goal. His shot found the back of the net, where he is now tied with Shapiro for most goals on the team with four.

Burns added two more impressive saves in the 85th and 90th minutes to secure the 3-0 victory for Rose-Hulman. Burns has now recorded seven shutouts this season, which remains the most in the HCAC.

With the victory, the Fightin' Engineers have improved from the #6-seed to the #4-seed in the HCAC with one game remaining.

The team will face the #7 seed, Manchester, on the road on Wednesday, October 29, at 7:30 PM.
