NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Fightin' Engineers have concluded the regular season with a 1-0 win over the Manchester Spartans. With the victory, RHIT concludes the season with a 4-2-3 HCAC record and the #3-seed in the HCAC Tournament.
Rose-Hulman recorded the first shot on goal of the match, where
Ryan Shapiro's shot down the right side was saved by Will Martin in the 23
rd minute.
The Fightin' Engineers had another great opportunity to score, where they were awarded a 45th-minute throw-in deep in Manchester territory.
Jacob Pohl headed the throw to
Oliver Fila, where he fired a shot into the back of the net, giving RHIT the 1-0 lead.
Rose-Hulman concluded the half outshooting Manchester 4-1, and their defense did not allow a single shot on goal.
Greyson Hovermale nearly extended the lead six minutes into the second half, but his shot down the right side was hit away.
The Spartans responded by driving down the field, and Alan Galvez attempted their first strike on goal, which was saved by
Justin Burns.
Chase Kedzior added Rose-Hulman's final shot on goal in the 54
th, and his high shot down the middle would also be saved.
With under a minute remaining, Manchester had one last shot to tie the game, but Nick Merrion's shot would sail wide left to secure the 1-0 win for Rose-Hulman.
The Fightin' Engineers concluded the match by outshooting Manchester 13-5, attempting five shots on goal to one from the Spartans.
With the victory, Rose-Hulman jumped from the #5-seed to the #3-seed in the HCAC. The Fightin' Engineers will now host the Anderson Ravens in the Opening Round of the HCAC Tournament, Saturday, November 1, at a time that is yet to be determined.
