Rose-Hulman Wreaks Havoc on Franklin in 5-0 Victory

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Fightin' Engineers dominantly returned to Terre Haute, taking down the Franklin Grizzlies by a score of 5-0.

Chase Kedzior opened the game with a shot on goal in the second minute, dribbling past multiple defenders before his shot was saved. Jacob Pohl added another shot on goal atop the eighth minute, where his header was deflected away.

The Fightin' Engineers added another header on target in the 17th minute from Alex Gilmore. Gilmore's shot was deflected and recovered by Ryan Shapiro, who added a strike of his own on goal, which would be caught by Franklin goalkeeper, Easton Terry.

Gilmore and Pohl would continue to thrive on the offensive end, with Gilmore recording a 28th-minute shot on goal, while Pohl added a 36th-minute shot that was saved from point-blank range.

Rose-Hulman found themselves on the fast break in the 41st minute, as Ryan Shapiro dribbled downfield past Franklin's defense. He made a cross into the box to Pace Morel, where Morel added a touch pass to Noah Hutter, who fired his shot on goal into the back of the net, scoring the first goal of his collegiate career.

The Fightin' Engineers closed out the half with a 1-0 lead, where they outshot Franklin 15-1, while attempting seven corner kicks.

Rose-Hulman continued to thrive throughout the second half, as Pohl scored Rose's second goal of the game on a 72nd-minute header with Oliver Fila picking up the assist.

With the ball in Franklin's backfield, the Grizzlies' defense made a pass back to their keeper, to try and set up a play. Evan Lipsky chased the pass downfield, where he stole the ball and scored an open shot on goal to put the Fightin' Engineers up by three.

Just a minute later, Rose-Hulman found themselves deep in Franklin territory, as Fila attempted a shot on goal, which was deflected away. Eli Miller recovered the deflection, recording a shot that deflected off the post. Miller's deflection landed at the feet of Carson Manes, where he recorded his first shot on goal, which found the back of the net.

The Fightin' Engineers continued to build on their momentum, as Gilmore recorded Rose's fifth goal of the game one minute later, scoring on a pile-up deep inside the box.

Gilmore's goal would ice the 5-0 victory for the Fightin' Engineers, where the offense recorded a season-high 30 total shots, 13 shots on goal, and matched their season-high with five goals.

Both Gilmore and Pohl recorded a team-high three shots on goal, with Gilmore attempting six total shots in the first start of his collegiate career.

On the defensive end, the Fightin' Engineers did not allow a single shot on goal, nor did they even give up a corner kick.

The Fightin' Engineers will look to build on their momentum as they face Mt. St. Joseph on Saturday, October 11, at 6 PM in Cincinnati, Ohio.
