Fightin' Engineers Victorious in 2025 HCAC Championship

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Rose-Hulman has won the 2025 HCAC Championship! The Fightin' Engineers took down the Hanover Panthers by a score of 1-0 to claim their fourth HCAC title in program history.

The Panthers opened the match with the first four shots, which included a 17th-minute strike on goal from Erin Terry. Her shot down the right side was deflected away by Brooke Spurlock on a diving save, to keep the game tied at zero.

Alex Adams added a pair of shots for Rose-Hulman in the 18th and 20th minutes, which would both sail just wide of the goal.

The Fightin' Engineers were awarded their first corner kick of the game in the 25th minute. Lauren Marquardt launched a perfect pass towards the far side of the goal, which was headed in by Camille Clark to give Rose-Hulman the 1-0 lead.

Sydnee Schuler added a shot on goal in the 50th minute, but Emma Patterson recorded a diving save down the left side.

The Panthers would be awarded a free kick three minutes later, where Ginny Young's shot sailed over the goal.

Hanover would have another great opportunity to tie the game in the 79th when they were awarded their first corner kick of the half. Their cross towards the goal would be denied by Spurlock, as she intercepted the pass deep inside the box.

The Panthers would attempt three more corner kicks in the final ten minutes, but Rose-Hulman's defense continued to keep them off the board.

Kaleigh Schirmer attempted Hanover's final shot on goal in the 87th minute, but Spurlock once again made a phenomenal diving save to keep the Panthers off the board, securing the 1-0 championship victory for Rose-Hulman.

Head Coach Amy Helliwell is now a three-time HCAC Champion, where she led Rose-Hulman to 2019, 2022, and now 2025 championship victories. Assistant Coach Kacey Baker also won her first title with RHIT after joining the program in 2023.

For her efforts, Camille Clark was named the 2025 HCAC Tournament Most Valuable Player, and she was joined by Sydnee Schuler, Lauren Marquardt, and Brooke Spurlock on the HCAC All-Tournament Team.

The Fightin' Engineers will compete in the NCAA National Tournament, where they will play in the opening round on Friday, November 14 or Saturday, November 15. Rose-Hulman will find out who they face during the NCAA Selection Show on Monday, November 10, at 11 AM.
