Women's Basketball Shuts Down Greenville in Big Win

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers women's basketball team picked up a big win over Greenville on Wednesday night with a final score of 75-50. This advances the team to 2-7 overall this season. 

Kaia Peterson led the team with 11 points, shooting a perfect 5-5 from the field. Peterson also added a team-high four rebounds.

Three student-athletes totaled nine points on the night, including Katelyn Fennell, Emma Schipp, and Maria Godoy Rodriguez. Godoy Rodriguez had a monster game defensively, finishing with six steals, which is tied for sixth in the school record books for steals in a single game.

The Fightin' Engineers got off to a strong start with a 7-0 run to take the early lead. A made free throw by Schipp gave the team a 14-point lead, with the score at 24-10 with 55 seconds on the clock. 

Rose-Hulman continued to dominate in the second quarter, outscoring the Panthers 15-10, to stay ahead at halftime 39-21. 

The team continued to push the pace in the third, finishing the last six minutes of the quarter on a 16-5 run to make the score 59-31 heading into the final period.

Rose finished the game strong in the fourth quarter. A made free throw by Reagan Lorenzen gave the team their largest lead of the night at 29, with a score of 71-42, with 2:23 left. The team held on to defeat the Panthers and secure their second win of the season. 

The Fightin' Engineers out-played the Panthers in multiple categories, finishing the game shooting 44.6% from the field, 36.4% from beyond the arc, and 84% from the free throw line.

Rose-Hulman will return to conference play, traveling to face Anderson on Saturday, December 13, at 1 PM.
