ANDERSON, Ind. – The Fightin' Engineers were unable to win their third straight game as they dropped to the Anderson Ravens by a score of 73-63.
Emma Schipp got off to a hot start as she opened the game by scoring on an and-one layup, before adding a layup on the following possession. She would knock down a three pointer just a few minutes later, and she gave Rose-Hulman an 11-10 lead after converting a mid-range jumper.
Schipp would later add a layup to give her 11 first-quarter pointers, and the Ravens would answer with a three-pointer.
Kaia Peterson added a layup to put RHIT back in the lead, but Anderson concluded the quarter with an 11-2 run to take a 26-19 lead.
Katelyn Fennell opened the second by cashing a three pointer.
Julia Meyer and Izzy Davis of Anderson each traded layups, prior to a two-minute scoring drought from both sides.
Anderson was once again able to close out the quarter on a hot streak, where they scored three straight baskets to extend the lead to 40-27.
Emma Schipp converted another two three-pointers early in the third quarter, which would cut the lead to 12.
Fennell and
Sophia Reese each added mid-range jump shots, and the Ravens concluded the quarter with back-to-back threes to stay in the lead by a score of 57-41.
Meyer and Peterson each scored three-pointers to start the fourth quarter. Meyer would then continue to thrive as she knocked down a pair of free throws before recording a layup on the following possession to make it a 63-51 game.
Both teams would trade baskets throughout the fourth, but Meyer added two buckets in the final 30 seconds of action to cap off the game with a score of 73-63.
Emma Schipp played her best game of the season as she dropped 21 points on 9-14 shooting from the floor, while going 3-4 from three-point range. She hauled in five rebounds and dished out two assists with one steal.
Julia Meyer dropped 15 points, where she shot 6-11 from the floor. She recorded four rebounds and three assists, while posting both a block and a steal.
Kaia Peterson added ten points, four rebounds, one block, and one steal.
María Godoy Rodriguez scored eight points on 4-7 shooting. She accumulated totals of three rebounds and three assists, with team-highs of three steals and two blocks.
Katelyn Fennell had a solid all-around game, scoring five points with one steal while leading Rose-Hulman with eight rebounds and five assists.
Rose-Hulman will face Earlham in their final game of December, on the 17
th at 7 PM in Richmond, Ind.
