TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman men's track & field team earned a first-place finish in the Fightin' Engineers Invitational to begin their indoor track & field season. 

The team totaled 17 top-three finishes and seven event wins in the meet. 

James Kaunas led the team with two event wins. He claimed first place in both the triple jump (12.45 meters) and the long jump (6.14 meters). Joe Jansen also picked up an event win in the field events with a victory in the high jump after clearing a height of 1.85 meters. 

On the track, Alejandro Clark had an impressive finish in the mile run, finishing with a time of 4:35.18. Xaiden Jenson picked up an event win in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:03.49.

Other first-place finishers included Zachary Lyon in the 3,000-meter run (9:27.30) and the 4x400-meter relay team of Brady Socha, Caleb Aber, Finley Hightower, and Xaiden Jenson with a time of 3:37.1. 

The men's track & field team will return to action next weekend on Friday, December 12, at the John Gartland Invitational hosted by Indiana State.
