TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers women's basketball team suffered a loss to the Berea Mountaineers on Saturday with a final score of 65-48. This drops the team to 9-11 overall and 6-7 in the HCAC this season.
Rose-Hulman was led by four different players totaling nine points in the contest.
Jamie Baum,
Emma Schipp,
CK Gallegos Rodriguez, and
Julia Meyer all totaled nine points to lead the team in scoring. Schipp was the team's top rebounder with eight and led the team in assists with four.
The Fightin' Engineers got off to a strong start in the first quarter of play after a made jump shot by Baum gave the team the lead 16-14. After being tied 16-16 in the second quarter, Berea put together an 8-0 to jump in front and take the lead.
Rose-Hulman struggled to get going offensively in the second quarter being outscored 27-10 to trail Berea 41-26 at halftime. The Fightin' Engineers fought hard to get back in the game but were unable to erase the deficit and would ultimately suffer the loss to the Mountaineers.
The loss puts Rose-Hulman in a tie for sixth place in the HCAC standings with Berea at 6-7 in league play this year.
Rose-Hulman will look to bounce back as they travel to take on Hanover College on Wednesday, February 5 at 7 PM.
