TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman women's basketball team secured their spot in the HCAC Tournament with a win over Bluffton on Senior Day with a final score of 76-67. The win improves the team to 11-13 overall and 8-9 in the HCAC.
Before the game, the team took the time to honor their seniors
Jamie Baum and team manager
Josiah McGee. Both seniors were recognized for their dedication to the Rose-Hulman women's basketball program by their teammates and family members.
The Fightin' Engineers were led by
Jamie Baum recording 16 points and a team-high seven rebounds, four steals, and four assists.
Sophia Reese and
CK Gallegos Rodriguez also totaled 16 points in the big win.
Emma Schipp had a great game with 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds, and
Julia Meyer also reached double figures in scoring with 11 points.
Rose-Hulman built a strong lead after a made three-pointer by Gallegos Rodriguez made the score 20-14 at the end of the first quarter. The Fightin' Engineers did not give up the lead for the remainder of the game, leading at the halftime break 43-32.
The Beavers cut the lead to six with the score at 73-67 with just 34 second remaining in the game, but the Fightin' Engineers were able to hold them off, sealing the win at the free throw line down the stretch.
The Fightin' Engineers will return to action on the road, facing Earlham College on Wednesday, February 19, at 7 PM to wrap up the 2024-25 regular season.
