Women's Basketball Caps Off Regular Season with 69-54 Win over Earlham

RICHMOND, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's basketball team picked up a 69-54 victory over Earlham in the regular season finale on Wednesday night.

After a back and forth first quarter in which Rose-Hulman led 15-13, the Fightin' Engineers ballooned the lead to 14 with a 16-3 run. They would take a double digit lead into the locker room at 33-23 at the break.

The Quakers cut the lead to single digits multiple times in the third quarter of action, but Rose-Hulman was able to ride a 10-3 run to close out the quarter and stretch their lead to 16, the largest of the contest, at the end of the third.

Earlham continued to fight late in the game, but Rose-Hulman continued to ramp up their pressure on both ends of the floor as they held on for the 69-54 victory in the regular season finale.

The Fightin' Engineers needed wins from both Anderson and Manchester on Wednesday to help earn the #4 seed, and the team got help from both of their conference foes to earn home court advantage in the opening round.

CK Gallegos-Rodriguez tallied a double-double for Rose-Hulman with 10 points and a career-high 16 rebounds. She also led the team with 4 assists and 3 blocks in the win.

Jamie Baum scored a team-high 19 points, and Sophia Reese (12), Julia Meyer (11), and Emma Schipp all tallied double figures as well.

With the win, the Fightin' Engineers improve to 12-13 on the season and 9-9 in the HCAC to finish the regular season with the same record as last season. The team earned the #7 seed in the HCAC Tournament after finishing in a four-way tie for fourth place, and they will travel to Cincinnati on Saturday, February 22, to battle the Mount St. Joseph Lions at 4 PM in the HCAC Quarterfinals.
