Blair and Stauffer Named to the Winter HCAC Sportsmanship Team

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Two Rose-Hulman student-athletes have been selected to the Christopher M. Ragsdale Sportsmanship Team by The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Simon Blair from the men's basketball team and Cate Stauffer from the women's swimming and diving team both represent the Fightin' Engineers as members of this year's honorees for the winter season. 

Blair is a senior mechanical engineering major from Wagoner, Oklahoma. He is a four-year member of the men's basketball team and played a key leadership role during his senior season. Blair played in all 27 games this season for the Fightin' Engineers totaling 5.7 points per game, 3.8 rebounds per game, 18 steals, and 18 blocks. He led the team in three-point field goal percentage shooting 47.1% on the year, and ranked third in field goal percentage at 50.5%.

Stauffer is a senior mechanical engineering major from Elkhart, Indiana. She has been a standout for the Fightin' Engineers women's swim team her entire career. Stauffer had three individual event wins at the HCAC Championship this season and was a member of two first-place-finishing relay teams. Stauffer also set school records in the 400 IM, 200 breaststroke, and as a member of the 800 freestyle relay team. 

The HCAC Sportsmanship Award is named in honor of former HCAC Commissioner Christopher M. Ragsdale, who served in the role from 2009 to 2018.

Members of the All-HCAC Sportsmanship team are selected by the coaches and their teammates as individuals who demonstrate the ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field/court of competition. Nominees must have consistently demonstrated the values of respect, and integrity in his or her daily participation in intercollegiate athletics. Each institution selects one male and one female as their honorees in the fall, winter, and spring seasons.
