Vineet Ranade Earns 17th Place in 200 IM to Start NCAA Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineer Vineet Ranade began competition at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving National Championships today, competing in the 200 IM. 

Ranade finished 17th in a competitive race during the prelim of the 200 IM with a time of 1:48.92. He barely missed the cut to qualifying for the final with the 16th-place finisher earning a time of 1:48.71.

The computer engineering major will return to action tomorrow, Thursday, March 20, competing in the 200 Freestyle. Ranade is the #12 seed in the race as he hopes to crack the top 16 to qualify for the final and earn All-American status. 

Ranade will then set his eyes on the 200 Breaststroke that will take place on Saturday, March 22. 

The morning session that will include all the prelim races is set to begin at 10 AM.
