TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman men's track & field team claimed a first-place finish in their outdoor season opener at the Early Bird Invitational. The team finished the meet with a team score of 135.
The Fightin' Engineers earned 10 top-three finishes with three event wins in the meet.
Antoine Cooper led the Fightin' Engineers with a first-place finish in the discus (141' 5") and a third-place finish in the shot put (47' 1.0").
Kolton Nanko earned a first-place finish in the pole vault after clearing a height of 14' 6.0".
James Kaunas followed that up with an event win in the triple jump with a mark of 43' 1".
Andrew Shields was another standout for the team earning a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash (49.40) and a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash (22.34).
The men's track & field team will return to action by traveling to compete in the WashU Distance Carnival on Friday, March 28, at 11:15 AM.
