ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The Rose-Hulman baseball team suffered a loss to the #22 Webster Gorloks on Wednesday night with a final score of 5-3. This drops the team to 15-13 overall this season.
The Fightin' Engineers took the early lead with a single by
Peter Rogers, bringing in a run by
Colton Brown in the top of the second inning.
Jackson Summers added another run in the second, after reaching home on a wild pitch to make the score 2-0.
Webster answered with two runs in the bottom of the second to tie the game. The Gorloks jumped in front after scoring three runs in the fifth inning to extend their lead to 5-2. Rose-Hulman made a strong effort, adding another run by Rogers in the sixth inning, but Webster would come away with the win.
Mason Rasmussen led the team at the plate, going 2-4 on the day. Rogers was another standout, going 1-4 with one run scored and one RBI.
Evan Chung suffered the loss on the mound with 3.0 innings pitched.
The baseball team will return to HCAC play on the road against Mount St. Joseph this weekend. The team will start their weekend series with a doubleheader against the Lions on Friday, April 18, at 3 PM and 6 PM.
