CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers picked up a mid-week win over Wabash on Wednesday with a final score of 13-6. The win advances the team to 20-16 overall this season.
Peter Rogers scored on a wild pitch to get the Fightin' Engineers on the board in the first inning.
Michael Stenger extended the lead with a solo homer in the second inning. Rose-Hulman added four more runs in the second by
Ryland Hixon, Rogers,
Connor O'Connell, and
Tyler Otroszko to stand ahead 6-0.Â
The Little Giants battled back with four runs across the second and third innings to make the score 6-4. O'Connell answered with a two-run homer for the Fightin' Engineers to make the score 8-4. A hit by Stenger brought in a run by
Jackson Harms to extend the lead again to 9-4.
Rose-Hulman piled it on with four more runs in the seventh to earn the hard-fought win against Wabash. O'Connell was the standout at the plate, finishing the night going 3-4 with three runs scored and four RBIs. The team emptied the bullpen with six different pitchers appearing in the contest.
Gavin Drooger earned his first win of the season after 2.1 innings pitched and one strikeout.
Rose-Hulman will wrap up the regular season hosting Transylvania in a three-game series this weekend on Friday, May 2, at 7 PM, and Saturday, May 3, at 1 PM and 4 PM. The team will honor their seniors on Saturday, May 3, before game one.Â
