KOKOMO, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman baseball team picked up a win in their first game of the HCAC Tournament over the Franklin Grizzlies with a final score of 3-2. This advances the team to 23-17 overall this season.
Franklin was able to get on the board first with a run in the top of the first to take the early lead. Rose-Hulman answered in the bottom of the second, after a walk brought in a run by
Colton Brown to tie the score at 1-1.
The Fightin' Engineers extended their lead after a single by
Tyler Otroszko brought in runs by
Jonathan Oliger and
Michael Stenger to make the score 3-1.
Franklin cut the lead to one with a solo homer in the top of the fourth. Rose-Hulman held off the Grizzlies to claim the win.
Otroszko led the team at the plate, going 2-3 with two RBIs.
Tyler Orr earned the win on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings.
The Fightin' Engineers will move on to face the #2-seeded Anderson Ravens later tonight with an approximate start time of 7:45 PM.
