Fightin' Engineers Secure the Shutout in Victory over Panthers

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Fightin' Engineers got off to a hot start in the 2025 season, as they shutout the Greenville Panthers on the road in a 3-0 victory.

The Panthers recorded the first shot on goal of the game, but freshman keeper Justin Burns saved their 18th-minute strike down the middle. The Fightin' Engineers would quickly respond as sophomore Eli Miller scored the opening goal seven minutes later.

Sophomores Evan Lipsky and Ryan Shapiro each added shots in the 29th and 32nd minutes, but the score would remain 1-0 at halftime. Rose-Hulman closed out the period with six shots to Greenville's four, while both teams attempted just one corner kick.

The Panthers got on the attack to start the second half, where their 46th-minute shot down the middle was saved by Burns. Burns would add his third save of the game nine minutes later, keeping RHIT in the lead.

Reigning HCAC Newcomer of the Year, sophomore Cameron Hannah scored Rose-Hulman's second goal of the match, as his 64th-minute strike found the back of the net.

With momentum on the Fightin' Engineers' side, junior Chase Kedzior attempted a shot down the middle, which was deflected by the goalkeeper, Tian Poyo. Senior William Wittich recovered the deflection and fired a shot on target, scoring Rose-Hulman's third goal of the game and sealing the 3-0 win.

The Fightin' Engineers concluded the match with 13 shots and five shots on goal, surpassing Greenville's 11 shots and three shots on target. RHIT's aggressive offense also led to six corner kicks in the second half, concluding the game with seven corner kicks to the Panthers' two.

In the net, Burns concludes his collegiate debut with an impressive performance, recording a three-save clean sheet.
