Volleyball Dominates in Sweep Over Blackburn

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman volleyball team picked up a big win over the Blackburn Beavers in a three-set sweep with set scores of 25-11, 25-17, and 25-12. The win improves the Fightin' Engineers to 10-4 overall this season. 

Julia Irmen had a monster game, recording a double-double with an impressive 43 assists and 10 digs. Emma Blanton also recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 14 digs. Keira Ohse achieved double figures in kills as well with 12 in the match. 

The team was scrappy defensively, with three players tallying double figures in digs. Lily Ebright led the team with 23, followed by Blanton with 14, and Irmen with 10.

After building a 13-8 lead in the first set, Rose-Hulman dialed in to put together a 12-3 run to defeat the Beavers and take the early lead 1-0.

The Beavers put up a fight in the second set, trailing 21-17 down the stretch. Rose-Hulman scored the next four points to claim the set win on a kill by Ohse. 

The Fightin' Engineers dominated in the third set, holding the lead for the majority of the contest. The team completed the sweep, finishing the set on a 9-3 run to defeat the Beavers. 

The women's volleyball team will hit the road to compete in the UW-Whitewater Invitational this weekend. Rose-Hulman will face Illinois College on Friday, September 26, at 7 PM CT.
