WHITEWATER, Wis. -- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers earned a win over the Illinois College Lady Blues on Friday night with a score of 3-1. This improves the team to 11-4 overall this season.
Julia Irmen recorded her second consecutive double-double with 36 assists and 13 digs in the match. Rose-Hulman had two other players reach double figures in digs, including
Lily Ebright with 17 and
Shae Clements with 10.
The team had three players reach double figures in kills, led by
Keira Ohse with 15. Other standouts included
Emma Blanton with 14 kills and
Greta Carlson with 13 kills.
Rose-Hulman had control of the first set, standing ahead 21-17. Illinois College rattled off four straight points to erase the deficit and tie the match at 21-21. The Fightin' Engineers finished strong on a 4-1 run to claim first-set victory 25-22.
The second set remained competitive with Rose-Hulman holding the lead 20-18. The Fightin' Engineers pushed a 5-2 run that included multiple kills by Ohse to defeat the Lady Blues 25-20.
After dropping a close third set 25-20, Rose-Hulman bounced back to finish off the Lady Blues in the fourth set on a kill by
Amaya Harrell with a score of 25-23.
The Fightin' Engineers will return to action on Saturday, September 27, facing Wisconsin-River Falls and #4 Wisconsin-Whitewater at 11 AM CT and 1 PM CT.
