ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The Rose-Hulman women's soccer team traveled to take on the NCAA DIII defending national champions on Sunday. The team fell short to #1 WashU with a final score of 4-0. This drops the team to 1-2 overall this season.
The Fightin' Engineers held their own defensively in the first half of the contest. The Bears put up 15 shots, but Rose-Hulman was able to protect their goal to keep the match scoreless heading into halftime.
The Bears took the lead in the 67th minute with a goal to make the score 1-0. WashU added three more goals in the second half to defeat the Fightin' Engineers.
Brooke Spurlock represented Rose-Hulman in goal, totaling seven saves against the #1-ranked team in the nation.
The women's soccer team will try to bounce back on the road against Spadling University on Wednesday, September 10, at 7:30 PM.
