Men's Tennis Returns to Action With Two Matches Over the Weekend

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers men's tennis team will hit the road to take on Trine on Saturday, March 21, at 11 AM. The team will then return home to continue their HCAC schedule, hosting Franklin on Sunday, March 22, at 11 AM. 

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* The team stands at 5-6 overall this season in dual matches.
* The Fightin' Engineers come off an exciting win over MSOE on Wednesday with a final score of 4-3.
* Ervin Perkowski was named the HCAC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for his performance in the team's conference-opening win over Berea. 
* Perkowski earned the win at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles spots to lead Rose-Hulman to their first HCAC victory of the season.
* The team is led by Ephraim Guthrie with a record of 9-3 this season in singles play. 
* Ervin Perkowski is the top doubles player for Rose with nine wins this season. 
* The top doubles team of the year is Eli McIntyre and Perkowski with a record of 7-3. 
* The Fightin' Engineers were picked as the favorites to win the HCAC this season, earning 42 points and seven first-place votes.
* Rose-Hulman has won the HCAC Title the past two seasons, going undefeated in HCAC play both years.
Tim Eckermann and Ervin Perkowski were named First Team All-HCAC last season. 
Ephraim GuthrieEli McIntyre, and Chris Lian were named Honorable Mention All-HCAC.
* The team is led by Head Coach Matt Wilson in his third season at the helm of the tennis program.
* After facing Trine and Franklin this weekend, the team will host Wabash and Principia on Saturday, March 28, in a tri-match at 10 AM and 4 PM.

TRINE NOTES: 
* Trine stands at 10-2 entering their match against Rose-Hulman. 
* The team comes off a win over Manchester with a final score of 7-0.
* Drew Hackney and Asher Monson lead the team in singles play with 10 wins each. 
* Hackney is the top doubles player with 10 wins this season. 
* Emmett Wirth and Hackney are the top doubles team with nine wins this year. 
* The team is led by Head Coach Erin Kolar in her 10th season at the helm of the men's tennis team.
* After hosting Rose-Hulman, Trine will host Adrian on Saturday, March 28, at 11 AM. 

TRINE SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman leads the all-time series against Trine with a record of 7-4 against the Thunder.
* The Fightin' Engineers have won their last three matches against Trine, dating back to the 2023-24 season.
* Rose beat the Thunder in their last meeting, during the 2024-25 season with a final score of 5-2. 
* The team has an overall road record of 2-1 when traveling to face the Thunder. 

FRANKLIN NOTES: 
* Franklin stands at 5-8 overall this season.

* Before facing Rose-Hulman, the team will host Anderson on Saturday, March 21, at 11 AM. 
* Clark Hersam represents the team at No. 1 singles. 
* Hersam teams up with Jaden Wells to represent the team at No. 1 doubles. 
* Franklin was selected to finish sixth in the HCAC Preseason Poll, earning 17 points. 
* The team is led by Head Coach Ryan Hammer in his fifth season with the Grizzlies. 
* After facing Rose-Hulman, Franklin will travel to take on Berea on Thursday, March 26, at 6 PM. 

FRANKLIN SERIES HISTORY:
* The Fightin' Engineers lead the all-time series against Franklin with a record of 39-9 against the Grizzlies. 
* Rose-Hulman has beaten Franklin in their last 14 matches, dating back to the 2013-14 season. 
* Rose defeated the Grizzlies last season during the regular season with a score of 7-0.
* The Fightin' Engineers took down Franklin in the HCAC Semifinal last season with a final score of 4-0.
