TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Fightin' Engineers were unable to end #25 Millikin's seven-game winning streak, as the Big Blue snuck by with a 1-0 win.
Jack Reeves got off to a hot start, as he struck out two batters in the first inning and another batter in the third. He pitched three scoreless innings, where he totaled three strikeouts while allowing just one hit.
Millikin would lead off the fourth inning with Ty Cribbett being walked, where he would later advance to third. With one out, Sam Bashur recorded an RBI single through the left side as Cribbett scored the only run of the game.
Patrick Lacy took the mound in the fifth inning, striking out consecutive batters while giving up just one hit in 1.2 innings.
Tyler Orr would add another two strikeouts in the eighth inning, and he would also allow just one hit while pitching the final two innings.
TJ Pipkins,
Connor O'Connell, and
Sam Erickson each recorded one hit on the day. Pipkins singled to center field in the fourth, O'Connell singled through the right side in the fifth, and Erickson added an eighth inning single to second base.
The Fightin' Engineers would give up just one run on only six hits, holding Millikin far below their 7.32 runs per game average on the season.
Rose-Hulman will travel to Lexington, Ky., as they conclude the regular season with a three-game series against Transylvania. The series will start on Friday, May 1, at 7:30 PM, with a double header being held on Saturday, May 2, at 1 and 4 PM.
