Men's Tennis Seeks Third Straight Title at HCAC Tournament this Weekend

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman men's tennis team will take on Earlham in the HCAC Semifinal on Saturday, May 2, at 3 PM. The winner will advance to the HCAC Championship Match on Sunday, May 3, at 1:30 PM. Saturday's semifinal matches will now be played indoors at the Community Sports and Wellness Center in Pendleton, Indiana. 

ROSE-HULMAN MEN'S NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman secured the top seed in the HCAC Tournament with an overall record of 11-7 and an HCAC mark of 7-0 during the regular season. 
* The team earned their 10th regular-season title in program history, and this is the third consecutive season Rose has been named the regular-season champs.
* The Fightin' Engineers received their first NCAA Regional Ranking in program history at the beginning of April, ranking sixth in NCAA Region VI.
* The doubles team of Tim Eckermann and Chris Lian rank sixth in the region, with Eckermann being listed as in consideration as a singles competitor.
* The men's team currently ranks 66th in the ITA National Rankings across all of NCAA Division III.
Ephraim Guthrie leads the team in singles play with a record of 18-3 this season. 
Tim Eckermann follows him with 12 singles wins this season.
Ervin Perkowski is the team's top doubles player with 14 wins in doubles play. 
Chris Lian follows him with 13 doubles wins this season.
* The doubles teams of Eckermann and Lian, along with Perkowski and Eli McIntyre, both lead the team with 12 doubles wins on the year.
* Rose-Hulman has won the HCAC Title the past two seasons, going undefeated in HCAC play both years.
* The team is led by Head Coach Matt Wilson in his third season at the helm of the tennis program.
* The winner of the HCAC Semifinal will advance to the HCAC Championship Match on Sunday, May 3. 

EARLHAM MEN'S NOTES: 
* Earlham earned the #4 seed in the HCAC Tournament and stands at 13-5 overall with a regular season mark of 5-2 in the HCAC.
* The team has won six straight matches, recently defeating Hanover 4-3 in the quarterfinal round to advance to the semifinal. 
* Ivan Wularu is the team's top singles player in the No. 1 spot. 
* The double team of Zinedine Purbo and Christos Xirokostas represents the Quakers at No. 1 doubles. 
* Rose-Hulman defeated Earlham during the regular season with a final score of 6-1. 
* The team is led by Head Coach Jacob Freeland.

TRANSYLVANIA MEN'S NOTES: 
* Transylvania enters the tournament as the #2 seed with a record of 7-9 overall and 5-2 in the HCAC. 
* The Pioneers won their last three matches of the regular season. 
* Chris Kaufmann is the team's No. 1 singles player.
* Kaufmann and Jordan Cordrey have teamed up this year to represent the team at No. 1 doubles. 
* Rose-Hulman defeated Transylvania during the regular season with a final score of 5-2.
* The team is led by Head Coach Bill Carey. 

ANDERSON MEN'S NOTES: 
* Anderson earned the #3 seed in the HCAC Tournament and stands at 9-9 overall with a regular season conference record of 5-2. 
* The team defeated Franklin in the quarterfinal round to advance to the semifinals with a score of 6-1. 
* Martin Suarez leads the team at No. 1 singles this season.
* Suarez pairs with Davis Borders in the No. 1 doubles spot for the Ravens. 
* Rose-Hulman defeated Anderson during the regular season with a final score of 6-1.
* The team is led by Head Coach Scott Greve.

#6 Franklin at #3 Anderson - Anderson wins 6-1

Thursday, April 30 - Quarterfinals
#5 Hanover at #4 Earlham - Earlham wins 4-3

Saturday, May 2 - Semifinals - Community Sports and Wellness Center - Pendleton, Indiana
#1 Rose-Hulman vs. #4 Earlham - 3 PM
#2 Transylvania vs. #3 Anderson - 5 PM

Sunday, May 3 - Championship - Indianapolis North Central High School
Winner of each semifinal match - 1:30 PM
