Volleyball Suffers Loss to UChicago to Begin Weekend Invitational

CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Rose-Hulman women's volleyball team traveled to face UChicago on Friday night to kick off the Rosalie Resch Invitational. The Fightin' Engineers suffered a loss to the Maroons in straight sets with scores of 15-25, 14-25, and 24-26.

Greta Carlson led the team with nine kills in the match. Kaia Schroeder was another productive hitter with eight kills on the night. 

Kennedy Otwell was the standout on defense, totaling a team-high 16 digs. Keira Ohse was a force at the net, leading the team with two solo blocks and one block assist.

After dropping the first two sets, Rose-Hulman had a strong performance in the third.

The Fightin' Engineers trailed the Maroons 17-10 before putting together a 12-2 run to take the lead 22-19. UChicago ended the set on a 7-2 run to hold off the Fightin' Engineers' comeback attempt and hand the team their first loss of the season. 

Rose-Hulman will continue the Rosalie Resch Invitational tomorrow, Saturday, September 5, facing Concordia Wisconsin and Edgewood at 11 AM CT and 5 PM CT.
