Volleyball Finishes 2-2 in Ohio Weekend

COLUMBUS, OHIO -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology finished 2-2 in the Otterbein-Capital Volleyball Invitational after splitting a pair of matches on Saturday.

In the Saturday morning opener, Denison University narrowly topped the Engineers 25-18, 18-25, 25-22, 17-25, 12-15.  In the nightcap, Rose-Hulman rebounded to defeat Capital University 15-25, 25-20, 25-17, 25-20.

Following the tournament, sophomore Sarah Jensen (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) was named to the all-tournament team for her efforts.

Against Denison, senior Casey Levitt (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) led the Rose-Hulman offense with 13 kills and three service aces. Jensen added her sixth career triple-double with 16 digs, 12 kills and 12 assists.

Freshman Morgan Dreyer (Batesville) had a team-high 29 assists, and senior Kate Dangel (Upper Arlington, Ohio) recorded 23 digs.  Freshman Christine Cammenga (Palatine, Ill./William Fremd) also reached double figures with 13 digs.

Senior Catherine Fiutem (Harrison, Ohio/Oldenburg Academy) and freshman Katelyn Race (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge) led the blocking attack with five block assists each.

Against Capital, Jensen led the offense with 14 kills.  Fiutem added 12 kills, and Levitt pitched in 10 kills for a balanced hitting attack.  Dreyer (22) and Jensen (21) led the assisting effort.

Dangel paced four players in double figures with 21 digs.  Levitt had 15, sophomore Kali Nordquist (Cape Coral, Fla./Ida Baker) added 11 and Fiutem had 10.  Fiutem also led the serving performance with four aces.

Rose-Hulman stands 2-2 on the season and returns to action with matches against Olivet and host Trine University on Tuesday night.
