Volleyball Sweeps Muskingum and Kenyon at R-H Invite

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology finished 3-1 in its annual volleyball invitational after sweeping Muskingum and Kenyon on Sunday at Hulbert Arena.

In the opener, Rose-Hulman topped Muskingum 25-18, 15-25, 25-16, 25-15.  The Fightin' Engineers continued a successful day by sweeping Kenyon 25-13, 27-25, 25-22 in the nightcap.

Against Muskingum, seniors Catherine Fiutem (Harrison, Ohio/Oldenburg Academy) and Casey Levitt (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) led the offensive effort with 12 kills each.  Sophomore Sarah Jensen (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) smashed 11 kills and joined freshman Morgan Dreyer (Batesville) with a team-high 19 assists. 

Jensen also recorded her seventh career triple-double with 11 digs.

Senior Kate Dangel (Upper Arlington, Ohio) led the defensive effort with 25 digs, and Levitt contributed 18 to the effort.  Fiutem also had a team-high four block assists.

Jensen continued the triple-double work with her eighth career tally in the nightcap.  Her effort included 13 assists, 12 kills and 11 digs.  Levitt and freshman Katie Ward (Marengo, Ill.) added nine kills each, and Dreyer led the team with 21 assists.

Three players reached double figures in digs, led by Dangel with 15.  Jensen added 11 with Levitt contributing 10.  Fiutem again paced the blocking performance with two solo blocks and four assists.

For her efforts, Jensen earned a spot on the Rose-Hulman Invitational all-tournament team.

Rose-Hulman improved to 5-6 on the season and travels to the DePauw University Invitational for two matches on Friday and two more on Saturday.
