TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's basketball team looks for its first victory of the 2014-15 season on Sunday, Nov. 30 when the Fightin' Engineers travel to Crawfordsville, Ind., for a 3 p.m. game with the Little Giants of Wabash College.
Rose-Hulman played one game this week, falling at nationally ranked DePauw University 77-58. Senior Corey Povaleri led the Engineers with a career-high 17 points, while junior Tyler Duffy added 12 points and six rebounds.
Through three games, Povaleri leads Rose-Hulman offensively averaging 14 points per game. Junior Jimmy Miller leads the squad in rebounds, averaging eight boards per game.
Wabash comes into the game unbeaten with a 3-0 record. The Little Giants most recently defeated North Central University (Minn.) 87-68 on Nov. 25.
Kyle Aiton and Dan Purvlicis lead Wabash offensively averaging 18.7 and 16.3 points per game respectively. Daniel Scofield averages 11.3 rebounds per game.
Rose-Hulman continues the challenge of a difficult non-conference schedule with the Wabash game, as the opposition has combined for a 10-3 record so far this season.
The game will also features two first-year head coaches at their respective schools. Rose-Hulman head coach Rusty Loyd spent the past five seasons as an assistant to former head coach Jim Shaw. Wabash head coach Kyle Brumett is no stranger to the Fightin' Engineers after serving as head men's basketball coach at Defiance College the previous six seasons.
After the game with Wabash, the Engineers will play their home opener as well as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) opener against Anderson on Wednesday, Dec. 3. The game is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m.
