TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology hits the road for Illinois Institute of Technology and its final game before the Holiday Break on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Central Time.
The Fightin' Engineers have improved to 5-4 on the season with a four-game winning streak that includes victories over Transylvania, Millikin, Manchester and Blackburn. The last two Saturday afternoon wins against Transylvania and Manchester involved shots in the final two seconds of play by Michael Hallstein and Matt Loesing.
Rose-Hulman won its fourth consecutive game by a 77-67 count over Blackburn on Thursday night, led by a season-high 21-point performance from Jimmy Miller.
The Fightin' Engineers currently place three starters in double figures in scoring, led by senior Corey Povaleri at 11.7 points per game. Junior Tyler Duffy stands at 11.6 points per game, with Loesing averaging 10.1. Miller (9.2 ppg) and sophomore Wade Stallings (4.0 ppg, 3.4 rpg) round out the starting lineup, and sophomore Collin Wojcik (7.8 ppg) paces the bench in scoring.
Illinois Tech stands 0-8 on the season after falling to Rockford earlier this week. Sophomore Samuel Rarick leads the Scarlet Hawks with impressive averages of 27.0 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.
After Saturday's matchup, Rose-Hulman will open the new year on Jan. 3 at Bluffton University.
