TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology heads to Mount St. Joseph University for a showdown of two top Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball programs on Saturday at 4 p.m.
Rose-Hulman improved to 9-5 on the season and 5-2 in HCAC play with an 81-60 victory at Franklin College on Wednesday night. Sophomore Collin Wojcik led four Fightin' Engineers in double figures with 19 points. Senior Corey Povaleri (18 points) and junior Dillon Reynolds (11 points) had career-high scoring performances, and junior Tyler Duffy also scored 10 points.
Rose-Hulman stands in a three-way tie for second place in the HCAC, one game behind Mount St. Joseph. The Lions are 11-3 overall and 6-1 in conference play after winning 64-48 at Hanover on Wednesday night.
Povaleri continues to lead the Rose-Hulman scoring attack at 11.9 points per game. Junior Matt Loesing is also in double figures at 11.1 points per game, followed by Tyler Duffy (9.9 ppg) and Jimmy Miller (9.9 ppg).
The Mount St. Joseph offense is led by three players averaging double figures in scoring. Joel Scudder (15.2 ppg), Mark Allen (12.0 ppg) and Femi Thompson (10.4 ppg) pace a squad that reached the HCAC Tournament semifinal round last season. The Lions have won five straight games, including three straight on the road, entering Saturday's matchup.
After Saturday's game, Rose-Hulman returns home to face Hanover College on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Hulbert Arena.
