TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's basketball team starts the second half of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference schedule with a trip to Transylvania University on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
Rose-Hulman stands 10-6 overall and 6-3 in conference play, while Transylvania has a 7-9 mark and is 4-5 in league play after the first half of the league schedule. The Fightin' Engineers have won seven of their last nine games, including a 75-64 win over Hanover College on Wednesday night.
Senior Corey Povaleri continues to lead Rose-Hulman in scoring at 10.9 points per game, with junior Matt Loesing also in double figures at 10.6. Junior Jimmy Miller averages 9.9, junior Tyler Duffy scores 9.6 and sophomore Wade Stallings rounds out the starters at 4.3 points per game.
Sophomore Collin Wojcik leads the reserves at 8.9 points per game. Junior Dillon Reynolds added 10 points against Hanover, and junior Mitch Williams had career-highs of seven points and six rebounds.
Transylvania has won three of its last four games, highlighted by a 90-78 win over Franklin on Wednesday night. Sophomore Alex Jones (15.6 ppg), junior Parker Stansberry (13.3 ppg) and freshman Sam Sergeant (11.4 ppg) average double figures in the starting lineup.
The coaching staffs from both teams will be participating in the National Association of Basketball Coaches Association fund raiser for cancer, with both coaching staffs wearing sneakers on the sidelines at Saturday's contest.
After Saturday's game, Rose-Hulman hits the road for an in-state matchup against Anderson University on Wednesday night.
