TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology hits the road for an in-state men's basketball matchup against Hanover College on Wednesday night.
The Fightin' Engineers finished 2-0 last week after defeating Earlham and Manchester at Hulbert Arena. Rose-Hulman stands 12-9 overall and is in a three-way tie for fourth in the conference standings at 8-6.
Hanover is tied with the Fightin' Engineers at 8-6 in league play and stands 11-10 overall. The top six finishers will qualify for the HCAC Tournament later this month.
Rose-Hulman continues to feature a balanced scoring attack that included six players reaching double figures in scoring on Saturday. Senior Corey Povaleri leads the Fightin' Engineers at 10.6 points per game. Junior Matt Loesing is also averaging double figures at 10.3.
Junior Jimmy Miller (9.9 ppg) and junior Tyler Duffy (9.4 ppg) are joined in the starting lineup by Wade Stallings (5.5 ppg). Sophomore Collin Wojcik (9.4 ppg) leads a bench rotation that includes senior Michael Hallstein, junior Dillon Reynolds and junior Mitch Williams.
Hanover also won both games last week, defeating Franklin and Earlham in home games after falling 103-102 in triple overtime at Bluffton on Jan. 31. Kyle James (11.7 ppg) leads the Hanover offensive effort and double figure scorers also include V.J. Billups (11.0 ppg) and Wes McKinney (10.2 ppg).
Hanover leads the all-time series 47-36, wtith Rose-Hulman winning the last two matchups. In Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play, Rose-Hulman holds a 12-8 edge. The Fightin' Engineers also defeated Hanover in the HCAC Tournament championship game in 2013 and 2014 to advance to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
After Wednesday's matchup, Rose-Hulman returns home to face Bluffton University on Saturday at 3 p.m. in another conference contest. The Fightin' Engineers close the regular season with three straight home games after the Hanover away game.
